10/23-My First Steps

Dominic had been toying with taking a few steps previously, but 10/23 was the first day that he took four steps going toward something he wanted on his own and it is also the first time that he walked about 5-6 (actual- not his size)feet. Matt and I spaced ourselves between five and six feet apart and Dominic walked to Matt and then he walked back toward me. It was one of the most exciting and breathtaking experiences in my life. It is amazing to watch this little person grow. I did not catch any pictures of this event as I was too busy enjoying this milestone, but I did include a few adorable pictures of Dominic that were taken earlier in the week.

I love Ratty

Dominic has this thing for a rat aunt Angie bought for him. It is so cute to watch him with it. He looks like he attacks the rat and puts the rat in his mouth. Most of the time if he is not attacking the thing, he is chewing on it's tail. Sometimes he wanders around with the thing in his mouth like you would see a cat doing to a mouse. Either way, I couldn't help but catch a few photo's of him with Ratty.

10/19-21

Another favorite thing of Dominic's is to drive the old Chevy. Not only is he truly enjoying this driving thing, but he knows how to work the radio and everything! The one where he has the hat on was taken on the 21st. The other two images were taken on the 19th. (Oct. 21st was the day where Dominic is as old outside as he took to grow inside-41 weeks and three days old.)

10/15

One of Dominic's favorite things to do is drive the tractor with Pupo. What a beautiful fall day to enjoy!

10/14

On 10/14 Grandpa Chris and Grandma Becky came for a visit with Aunt Mandy and all the grandchildren as they were departing shortly for their trip to FL. We had a wonderful visit and all the children got to play together (well Imagin tried as best she could, but her limitations of age prevented her from fully playing :-) ).

11/9

I know I am working in backward order, but here are a few photo's from Monday night. On Monday we invited Grandma Mo over for dinner and after dinner she read to Dominic in the living room while Daddy and I cleaned up. Here are a few photo's of their special time together.

10/11

Dominic had two new things today. One is that he finger painted his very first painting. He loved mushing all the colors around and making a mess. He is also very good at making messes.

The second thing that he did today for the first time was to play in a leaf pile. He also enjoyed this very much. The texture of the leaves was of special interest to him. It was a fun filled day here!

Our Trip to Camp

On Friday we took a wonderful trip to camp. It was the prime time to go on a beautiful day trip. The leaves were in full color (although not as beautiful as other years, beautiful none-the-less). Once we arrived we visited and Dominic acted like a tornado blowing through camp.

Many books and papers needed to be placed up high. Then he climbed the stairs and so those were blocked off. Next it was for the videos, apparently he thought it would be nice if they were reorganized!

Dad and Rebecca went for haircut’s, which left Dominic the perfect time for napping, but he would have none of that. When they arrived an hour later, he won and up he came. He enjoyed playing with Grandma Becky, and Grandpa Chris.

I tried to show Grandpa Chris a few things with the computer and one of which I hope will be a blog of their own. It was a nice visit and our last for the 06 year. They will be off next week for Ohio, and then Florida. We wish them a safe trip and a wonderful journey.

Oh, and one more thing. They paved the road at camp! It is very nice, but at the same time I have been going there for almost 30 years and it has always been a dirt road. It is kind of weird and un-camp like. I guess like all things, I will get used to it.

10/3

Big D's Doctor appointment was today. I use the name Big D because that is what the first Dr. that saw Dominic called him. Needless to say, Dominic has grown! He is now in the 45 percentile for his head circumference (this is much improved over the 10 &25percentile that he used to be). Apparently he has dropped in the weight department and is currently 18lbs and 11oz (25 percentile for weight). His height however has continued to see growth. He is 30 inches tall and is in the 95 percentile for his age.

His appointment went well and he needs to go back in 6 weeks for his follow up polio vaccination. In Maine they must have a different schedule then NY. Other then this, Daddy had a wonderful time showing off his son with those he works with after his Dr. appointment. He even took him over to the women's clinic side (OB/GYN) as he worked there during his first rotation. He was a flirt and a hit!

9.25 hours

9.25 hours!!! That is the length of time Dominic slept last night in one stretch. :-) This is a wonderful milestone for me. (It only took 9 months and 2 days!) I'm sure we will have our ups and downs, but this is a wonderful start to some good sleep. (Oh, how wonderful it is!!!)

Bring on the photo's

The two photo's are of Dominic on a little car toy that aunt Mandy let us borrow. On October 1st Dominic climbed on and off of the thing on his own. He also began to push it with his feet so he moves across the room. The last thing he did today was sign "all done". It was a day of many accomplishments (for being not quite 9 months old).

These photo's are at aunt Mandy and uncle Chris's house. Here they put Dominic in the back of the dumptruck and had Christopher pushing him. It was wonderful fun for the both of them. Dominic even got "dumped" out at the end of the ride (it was really an accident and the truck fell over, but Dominic was a good sport and only shed a few dry tears. :-) )

9/30-10/1

It was a busy day!!! First, we attended baby-sign language class in the morning with grandma Mo. Then, it was off to Boston to visit Aunt Angie, and Steve. We arrived in Boston around 4:45pm and by 5:25pm we were off to dinner. It was in this really cozy Italian restaurant with good food that Steve picked it out. So, we arrive and have this table right next to the window. The window was lined with plants in pots overlooking the sidewalk and city of Boston. We were not there ten minutes and Dominic had one of the pots in his hands and threw (or dropped) it to its untimely death. (In attendance were Steve, Steve's brother Doug and Doug's girlfriend Elizabeth, Angie, Matt, Dominic and I.) Great food and conversation were shared for a wonderful evening out. (Thank you Steve, dinner was fantastic!) We finished the evening with a photo (thank you Angie for bringing a camera) that a stranger waiting for dinner was volunteered to take for us. That photo is a Polaroid and so it is not posted. However, when I get the scanner hooked up I will edit this post and post it here as well.

By the time we arrived back at Angie's beautiful apartment and got situated for bed, Dominic was really ready. I was amazed at how quickly he settled down and went to sleep in his pack and play. He awoke twice in the night for not more then five minutes each. Yeah!!!!!!!!

Up the next morning at 6:40am and it took till 9:20am to get all of us showered and fed. We drove to Ikea (it is like an airport of a place) and got a few things (star lights for Dominic's room), then we went to Trader Joe's (wish we had one of these in NY). By the time we got back to Angie's house it was time to pack and leave. We left Boston around 2:30pm and arrived home at 7:15pm. Grandma Mo brought some of her wonderful homemade soup down (hot), rolls, chicken riggies, and apple pie. What a wonderful treat after being on the road. (Thank you Grandma Mo!!!)

It was a great, but exhausting weekend!
